Choosing a good domain name

Choosing A Good Domain Name For Business

Premium Domains

Namecheap Market

You have a choice of thousands of ways to market your brand, with a great domain name. You can start by deciding which niche & target market you wish to focus on. For niches such as technology, finance, health, cryptocurrency, etc, you will need a short memorable brand name. These markets are highly competitive. You could use a hand shake domain (original one word domain), or an aged domain. You’ll be able to pick up a good quality aged domain at Namecheap Market. Or use their domain name generator for hand shake domains, and alternative TLD’s. Cost $1-$5.

Sedo Domain Auctions

Alternatively, you can opt for a one word premium domain over at Sedo. The cost of a great domain starts from $70. Though I picked up a great name there for $35. Some cost millions. Take a look!

Creating a good name seems simple, but the fact is the name you choose/register a domain won’t rank in Google for months. Google Page Rank (Depreciated), DA (Domain Authority), and Backlinks all MATTER. And fast hosting..

Catchy Brand Domains

The made up names are usually more suitable for online stores, and B2B. You might click it out of curiosity, and discover something that is unique & appealing. I don’t use these names personally. Marketing is slightly different. You’ll need to spend a bit extra on branding & marketing to make it work. The same can be said for design. Your design needs to be outstanding when using a catchy name. Marketing your catchy brand name in social media platforms, and having an original service helps.

If you have the time, money, interest, and enthusiasm, then you have a 70 30 chance of succeeding. Online businesses take lots of effort & many hours of research to get ahead. It doesn’t happen all on it’s own. You have to stay organised.

Keyword Domains

Aged keyword domains were once all the range, especially for niche blogs, affiliate marketers, and similar. But Google now uses different algorithms. and if you run a blog, or wish to run a successful blog, spammy posts just won’t cut it anymore. Blogs that are designed solely for affiliate marketing are not great for a few reasons. 1) lack of security, 2) jams up the internet, WordPress, and hosting facilities. Don’t waste your time with such, unless you are certain you have potential customers, you are an expert, you’re a good writer, you will post regularly, and maintain your website. Lots of people waste their time on domain names, and online business ideas, and blogs. Ask an expert.

If there is a great keyword phrase, or aged domain for business, or business services, you should grab it. You can either use it yourself, or resell it. Do check the back links. If you register a good keyword domain, you can check if it’s been registered before, and view the past designs on the Wayback Machine Archive.

Dropped Domains

Similar to marketplace domains, you can also purchase dropped domains for around $50-$200. The registrars usually recycle these now in the marketplace. But I believe dropped domains may backorder specific aged names with DA.

Back Order Domains

Certain Domain Registrars allow you to backorder a specific domain name you like. This means that if the owner pays late, or drops the domain, you could be the new owner. Now you are in competition with the big guys. Many big firms backorder or catch domains. And even buy from marketplaces cheaply, then try to sell them for thousands.

Simple & Short

Whether you want to use a used domain with DA (authority), or your own original name, I suggest you keep it simple and short, professional & premium. If you’re lucky enough to find a nice short domain, go for it. It doesn’t matter which extension now. .Com has always been preferred, or your regional TLD. But now people are getting creative with all of the new extensions coming out. So have some fun. Use this domain generator..
